Zebra finches

Zebra finches are hardy and very prolific birds. The cocks usually start courting immediately after introducing him to a hen. Zebra finches are also has a perky attitude and loves attention.

Breeding

The first thing to do is to choose a pair and put them in a cage that has a nest..then put some coconut fiber or any bird friendly nesting material, then the male sings while fluffing his feathers.
the female will then raise her rump and then wag her tail feathers then they copulate.
The hen will start incubating the eggs when the third egg is laid, then the eggs will hatch in around 12 to 14 days of incubation, the chicks will then start exploring at about 21 days of age and will wean from their parents at about 6 to 8 weeks of age. The chicks will start moulting at about 8 weeks of age and complete the moult in 3 to 4 months.
